Did you ever think you truly knew the person with whom you entered into a romantic arrangement, only to be shocked by some small flash of less than desirable behavior? In an instant something clicks in your mind and you realize the set-up may not quite be what you thought it was and is not where you need to focus your attention. Little sparks of intolerable quirks may grow into something huge and before you know it you're attached to a maniac.
The moment you come to the realization that some actions by your partner are less than desirable make a mental note and take heed if they continue. HEED MEANING TAKE IT SERIOUSLY! The next step is to bring the issue to their attention. Too many times we just quit on people and forget that imperfections lie in each one of us. However, if they're in total denial of any character flaws and refuse to listen, then you got a big problem on your hands. A person will never take steps to repair what they don't see as broken. And finally, the dread of letting them go for the sake of your own mental health. Yes, yes sometimes you have to say goodbye in order to maintain self respect. And yes this may take you out of the romantic arrangement, however being alone for a while doesn't mean you'll be lonely. It's more like you choosing yourself and understanding the full value of your time and attention. One day someone will pay you your worth with complete love.
All I'm saying this morning is be true to yourself and everything else will fall in line, I promise!
Thanks for reading.
I can relate to this so much!!! I thought I had married my Knight in shining Armor, my King ,the one who was different from the rest!!! We had some small issues in the marriage as in any marriage, but I found out that I married a MONSTER!!! What still has me shocked is how quickly he went from one person to another in seconds!! My Husband went from missing me,singing to ,me ,making passionate love to me,crying to me telling me how much he loves me and vows to be the Husband I deserve to not even an hour later trying to cover my mouth and nose to suffocate me,and when I fought back started to strangle me to the point of blackout! As I gasped for just a bit of air he began to kiss me and tell me he loves me,and when I asked him to please let me go home went right back to rage and told me I was never getting out of my car ALIVE!! He held me captive in my own car for over 24 hours and was torturing me the entire night. He was physically torturing me as well as mentality torturing me, he would periodically jab me in my ribs or stomach, and keep telling me I was going to end up in a ditch and my body would never be found,he mimicked me in a baby voice when I was praying for GOD to spare my life calling me a coward. He even forced me to call my Mother to tell her I was never going to see her or my kids again. I never saw this side of him EVER it hit me like a truck, and I'm still terrified and in shock!!! He is now in jail awaiting sentencing!!!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness Tara W! It's men like this who infiltrate their way into our hearts and minds with the worst of intentions. I beg you to refuse to allow this circumstance to make you question your sanity and genuity. There are, in fact, people who seek out to control the lives of others inside of romantic relationships. Your trust was taken and twisted by a man who undoubtedly had a plan to carry out and somehow you disturbed his sick reality. I don't mean that you did anything wrong here, because there are people who create alternate reality inside their head of what they perceive as perfection and any slight change triggers internal issues that existed well before you came into the picture. I can almost foresee that he may have a hidden substance abuse issue, or some undiagnosed psychological disorder. So many people suffer from mental illness and never receive proper care and sadly violence is an easy outlet. Right now you need a support network so don't be afraid to reach out. You are already showing strength in your ability to speak out about this horrible thing in an effort to save someone else from same. Please know that this is not your fault and if you need to talk contact me at partywithscarlet@gmail.com. I'll be thinking of you.
